Wael Salloum

CEO

Wael Salloum is a visionary technology executive with nearly 20 years of impact at global tech leaders. Known for building high-performance teams and launching innovative, large-scale AI solutions, Wael has transformed data ecosystems at Google, YouTube, WhatsApp, and now as founder of Wadana.ai, a firm focused on advancing AI in the MENA region.

At WhatsApp as Global Head of Data Science, Engineering & Analytics,  Wael established the data team from scratch, developing governance models, data principles, and privacy aware techniques while pioneering products that support over 200 million businesses worldwide. As VP & Distinguished Engineer, Data & AI & Integrity  at Careem, he led the company’s AI transformation post-Uber acquisition, driving major gains in efficiency, security, and customer experience, saving millions annually. His work at Google included leading YouTube’s data strategy for smart TVs, advancing experimentation,and AI models,  and developing privacy-aware data infrastructures that became industry standards.

A sought-after thought leader, Wael has delivered keynote talks at GITEX, DateAI, WIDS, and Stanford, and speaks regularly at universities including AUB. He is an advisor to governments and startups and serves on multiple boards, championing responsible AI and data science as engines for strategic growth across industries.
